Kentucky House Bill 487 is now in effect. As a valued partner of St. Vincent de Paul Louisville, we want to make you aware of the changes it brings to Kentucky sales taxes in relation to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations. As of July 1, 2018, all Kentucky 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations are required to collect sales tax on admission tickets to special events. The 6 percent sales tax will be added to all admission tickets sold for special events and sporting events.

In addition, the 6 percent sales tax may be added to the price of silent auction items. The tax will apply to the full price paid, even if the value of the item is lower than what is paid at the auction.
